Getting hired!
Hello everyone, is there anything I can do to make myself a better candidate for getting hired? I have a degree in psychology, and I've been involved in community service clubs in college, but I want to do more.

Yeah live clean from here on out. No tickets no wrecks. Departments understand small lapses in judgement. But after a while they begin to think the worst.
Being the best is not what always counts. What counts is always trying your best.
Remember who you are, and where you came from. That way you never get a big head.
May those that lost their lives in 9-11 RIP, for the things you did not many could do. You left so many behind so that you could save so few. For now we stand strong as one, and will not look back till the fight is done. (me)

Just so happens you had an "Extended period of lapses in judgment".
NOTHING BUT TIME WILL HELP YOU!

Time
How much time do you guys think I should wait, it's been a year from my last ticket and 3 years since my last accident, I was just gonna keep applying until they say yes, is that a good idea?

I'm not an LEO, but I've found that having applied and been DQed in the past has only hurt me going forward. Most departments ask for a list of departments you've applied to in the past, and they will contact those departments. Some agencies DQ you just because you've been DQed by another department.
With a driving record like yours, I'd suggest putting at least five years between your last ticket/accident and your first application."I'm not a coward,
I've just never been tested
I'd like to think that if I was,
I would pass"
