01-12-06, 01:28 AM #61I don't care if it pink and purple. As long as you're wearing it.

The black uniforms worn by the Sacramento (and Plumas) County Sheriff don't look bad either.Last edited by Welpe; 01-12-06 at 04:20 AM.

Meh
Around here most towns/cities have their own police department or are covered by state police. Sheriffs usually stick with jail/courts with maybe one division working sporatic patrol.
The town I live in has a 70member police force, plus county sheriff, state police, and the local college police all working in it.
I've gotten to meet a lot of cops.No life 'til leather gunna kick some ass tonight.

It is better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

In Wisconsin, the County Sheriff is THE Big Dog in law enforcement. The Sheriff's department has jurisdiction over the entire county, not just a specific municipality. Deputies can respond to calls anywhere they are sent to in the county, even in those cities that have their own police departments. The Sheriff's Department is also responsible for operation of the county jails, courtroom security, and inmate transports to prison.
Speaking of uniforms, ours are tan pants with a brown stripe, and a brown shirt with tan epulets and pocket flaps. Lts. and above can wear either a white or the brown shirt.
Oh, and generally, we are better looking and smarter than regular cops!
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

The Deputies in the county pretty much talk like that. I've seen them get in a persons face and say "F*ck you , you p*ssy motherf*cker. I'll f*cking kick your ass".
If I said that...I'd get fired....and probably have to go and wear doo doo brown

We make a bit more that Deputies but we do just as much as them. Deputies make up some in pay by having a take home car. We have almost twice the DUI's they do in a fraction of the coverage area. They have more calls for service than us but they have almost 800 square miles.

On the topic of backup, one of the best kept secrets of the county here is that during certain hours of the night, there are only 3 cars on duty for the entire county!

Our county is the size of Delaware... 2070 sqaure miles or something like that...
