Duty boots

looking for duty boots suggestions.
i've researched boots like crazy but i still dont know which ones to get.

i want something thats breathable, light, comfortable, and durable.

i know alot will suggest danner, but i dont wanna pay that much at the moment. i dont want bates for the fact that the shoestring eyelets are plastic and look cheap.
and i want something that wont kill me in the case i have to run after someone

im currently stuck on Rocky Fort Hoods, Galls tactical boots, and ranger joes survival.

any other suggestions would be appreciated.
i'd love to hear what you wear and how they hold up.....i have a set of oxfords and after having them on and standing for many hours my feet hurt at the end of the day.

Anyways, I got a pair of Rocky Fort Hood duty boots last year. I use them for foot patrol and I love them. They're light and don't feel like I'm dragging around a brick. I've used them all through winter, where we walk around outside in the snow for six hours. They kept my feet warm and dry. They were a pretty decent price as well.

Try the Oakley combat boot. Great to run in, very light and sturdy.

Failing that, I wore a Hi-tec "Magnum" boot for years. A little cheaper, but still a good boot.

I just got the 5.11 boots today..very comfortable..especially since the office paid for them:D

Danners are the best boots you can buy. So if you really can't afford them right now, I'd suggest buying something cheap until you can afford them.

What is your price range?

I wear the Danner Stryker GTX, and so far it has been the best boot I've ever worn. I've worn lots, from Uncle Sam's GI and "safety" footwear, to Magnums. The Stryker is a "lower priced" Danner, still coming in at a moderate $160. They are full soled, and can be resoled when necessary. They also shine up very well. I wear them for one year of duty use, then I resolethem and use them for training after buying a new pair. They make them in high 8" uppers, or mid 6", and lower. A great boot! I highly recommend them.

I have both of these types of boots. I like the Oakley boots but they are a little pricy. I still have my 1st pair of Magnum boots issued to me from the academy. That was 4 yrs ago. They have held up well. I changed the laces about 1 yr ago and change the soles out every 8 -12 months.

how are the danners in the case of a foor pursuit???
because they look built well but what about the weight on them?

I like my Georgia Giant boots, but I don't know if you'd classify them as duty wear or not, since I have no duties.

Here's the model I got - Not too light, not too heavy. The leather is soft and flexible, but seems to be durable. I paid almost $90 for them locally about 3 months ago and have worn them most days ever since. They're very comfortable.

I couldn't afford Danner's when I first bought boots, but I grabbed a pair of Magnums. Not my favorite, but they definately get the job done.

I've been wearing the Hi-Tec Magnum for years, it's a great boot for the money.

Nice boots, y'all!

+ 2 On the Hi-Tech Magnums been wearing them for years. Even worth them when I was in the Navy doing LEO duty.

actually, i just called danner and the Striker GTX boots cannot be resoled

The Georgia boots I have (see above) are advertised as "Repairable goodyear welt construction"

I don't know exactly what they mean by that.

I have been wearing the Oakley boots for about 2 months now and love them. I cant wait to get home and get a pair of the black ones for work. They are light weight, ans the sole is so soft I hardly know I have them on all day. At home I have been wearing Hi-Tec's and I loked those fine, especially since they have a six month comfort warrenty. If price aint a problem I say spoil your feet and go with the Oakleys, but the Hi-Tec's are a great boot at a good price, they last forever too, I dont know about the wearability on the Oakleys yet.

Very light very comfortable, actually have lasted me longer than any other boot so far (over 1.6 years). Water proof very nice.

I have 5.11 side zip boots. They are lightweight, comfortable and my first pair lasted well over a year. I only retired them due to the department getting me another pair when uniform time came.

I still wear them around the house to do yard work in and such. They usually run around 80 bucks a pair, worth the money.
