I have learned that everyone is innocent. No one did anything wrong, they were framed, their brother did it, and the cops made it up cause they are out to get everyone, and cops are all sadistic bastards cause look at the marks on the wrists from how tight they put the handcuffs!

That if am having a busy day, all I need to do is turn around to see the most absolute paper-suck crime happening right in front of me - and that if I am having a slow day I can search for hours and find nothing until ten minutes before the shift ends.

I guess I've come to realize that there are bad people everywhere. And you can't catch them all. But you can catch some of them. And those are the ones that make this job worthwhile. I'm just another garbage truck, picking up some garbage off the corner, trying to make our city a little nicer. I can't pick up all the garbage, but I have brothers and sisters that are garbage collectors too, and they are in other neighborhoods, picking up garbage. And even though when my shift is over, there will still be plenty of trash on the street, I pitched in and cleaned some up. Oh yeah, and all of us garbage collectors make about the same money. Some just have better hours.

I have learned that no bar serves more than two beers.
There is no such thing as a red light.
Everytime I am doing an extra speed enforcement due to citizen's complaints, I catch the person who made the original complaint. Marijuana and other types of drugs have a knack of just popping up every where without anyone ever noticing or knowing how it got there.
I also have learned to really hate hearing "I didn't do it" everytime I walk in somplace while in uniform.

What Kpd said... Basically, we spend most of our time being nannies to the world because people can't take care of themselves, or of their own problems. It can be very depressing.

That's why I spend a lot of my time socializing with the good folks in my town, taking in the good instead of the bad, and stopping people just to tell them their gas cap is off, or they left their milk on the Chevron counter LOL.

I've learned that when I am on call that I crave an ice cold beer that seems to surprisngly disappear when I am NOT on call.

That everyone arrested for DUI is either (1) in law school, (2) going to be in law school (3) his sister's mother's baby's daddy is a lawyer and one if not all of them are going to sue me and have my badge.

That there must be some secret crack head communication system...maybe like Star Trek...where they have friend's that do not have last names, that dropped them off where ever they are in a vehicle the cannot describe and that their great taxi ride friends do NOT have a telephone number that they know of and no they don't know where they live and yet...they are great friends.

That someone can actually look at you with a straight face and tell you that the drugs you found in their pants isn't theirs because these aren't their pants and NO...they don't know whose pants they are! I find myself walking half naked at parties also....looking for a new pair of pants to wear. I mean..how can they tell you that with a straight face!?
