how to hunt wabbits
http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

I learned that dumbass liberals make our job tougher. And those same dumbass liberal politicians protect the guilty (cause those dumbass politicians are up to no good themselves)

I have learned that now matter how bad I may have it at home, I can always go to work and see people a lot worse off than me.

In all seriousness, I realized how lucky I really am.
In addition to that, I've learned that I'm not going to save the world. I'm probably not going to make a dent in saving the world.
Also, if I don't write a speeding ticket, or lose a court case, or don't make an arrest when I could (Ex: Get a drunk driver a cab rather than go to jail) the worlds not going to stop spinning. No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

That the vast majority of people in this country have become sheep. Totally in denial that there are bad people out there, and the world just isnt a safe place. they accept ZERO responsibility for themselves or their actions (and in many cases lack thereof) and always have someone else to blame, or expect someone else to bail them out.

How elected officials talk a good game until they are elected.
How some of those officials I thought were upstanding, straight forward associates of mine aren't.
How doing your job is just a wait and see if you'll lose that job.

Perhaps the most profound lesson in life for me...
But for death and long-term incarceration, there are no tragedies.

Tell me not, Sweet, I am unkind,

To war and arms I fly. - Lovelace

More than anything I've learned that living takes a lot of faith when you see the worse of people on a daily basis, and that little things are more important than I had ever dreamed.
And did I forget to mention, this job is nothing like you see on television.Last edited by jcsdscott; 07-08-07 at 05:03 AM. Reason: added last line

All of those things I have learned.
Perhaps the most important thing I've learned is that 20 yrs can be an eternity.
