lol. When I read the title, I thought this was a thread about beer. :o It's been that kind of day.
Yes, Region 57
I've been a member since 2001, but have not yet used any benefits except for a couple of patch swaps.
Next time I travel to Europe or U.K., I am going to see if I can make use of it.
Nice Slam, I have been a member since 1990, but never used any benefits myself.
Just about to post this exact subject as someone PMed me asking me about a bike club and the IPA Ireland has one.
I have only been a member since 2002 and went to the WISPA/IPA football tournament in S Africa in 2003. Had a blast, met officers from Russia, Korea, Jamaica, various europeans and assorted others. Mind you I think there was more beer and swapping than football going on :p
Still have about a dozen T-shirts and caps, etc.
As for travelling and using IPA. The house in Dublin is nice but its not city centre, only a short taxi ride but you have been advised.
Anyone plans on seeing Dublin, PM me in advance, we dont do sit ins, tours or uniform patches, etc so advance warning is required if were to extent any form of semi-decent PC. I have lost count of the amount off officers that arrive at the front counter in the station and we have to give them a piss poor response which is embarrasing to us.
Actually, does your branch get involved in the exchange program? 2 trainees go to Germany every year from here and spend 2 weeks with the force in Koln (I think) doing sit ins, tours and convention. Supposed to be a great event.
I think our union is affiliated to the IPA. I know we've got some IPA banners up in the stations.

Jesus for such a large international police group theres fuck all members.
I have been a member of the IPA for over 15 years in Region #8. Being retired and an owner of an RV, the wife and I travel several months a year around the USA. We have never traveled abroad and able to use the use of IPA homes. It has come in handy around the USA and contacted many Regions and there officers. From the stories I heard from officers traveling abroad, treated very well and I can not say that of local regions. It seems to me that unless you are from another country, they don't put much significance into it and just make a second hand effort. Of course there are exceptions and 3 times I have met officers in various states who couldn't do enough and made us feel very welcome. So, guys when officers visit from within the USA, make them feel welcome and impress them with your region and local area, could make a difference down the road. Take care and Be safe out there........
