Can any of our dispatchers provide me with new and current dispatcher training that is obviously not in house? Procedure, radio use, call taking, NCIC, the whole ball of wax. The only catch is that it would need to be in the Louisiana area. Thanks.

If you don't find anything specific to LA, you might give powerphone a call.
Of course, they are innit to make a buck though.
Powerphone sucks and is extremely expensive. I went to a one day class with them and it was $289. Worst class I have ever been to, dispatch and LEO.
You had a bad experience MIB, sorry to hear it.
I must have lucked out.
I wish I could help, I'll try checking out some of our resources.
Almost all of our training is in-house. We have to continue our POST certification, but many of those classes have been developed by local dispatchers, or by similar agencies throughout the state.
PM enroute with additional.
Duh, APCO.
Been while since I sat a console, or I'd have thought of that.
Good call CB.
Go APCO. Powerphone courses are written by drunken monkeys.
Also give a look at Professional Dispatch Management out of Jackson, MS. It was founded by Billy White, Jr. I have met him several times, and attended a basic spanish course back in 2001.

While not exactly in LA, they are close enough for local travel.
Thank you very much.
Figure anything out yet?
Dispatcher training?????
Try Doritos, KFC, Pizza Hut, Cheetos,.........Im sure one of those companies have some dispatcher training
:)
Actually I am waiting for some information to make to me (strictly at the persons convenience..:D) before I make my move on the communications commander. I am seriously tired of the things our dispatchers are doing. It's really sad. Especially considering the level of professionalism from some comm officers I know.
