How old is your son?

I'm no expert on Federal or Georgia laws pertaining to evidence but I don't see any reason why they couldn't use them against him, if they were so minded.

why should that matter your not out to get him are you

No, I am not out to get him. As far as legalities go, it makes a difference if he is a minor or adult.

yeah but they
but they told us he would be fine if he didnt sell it and stuff
and also that they couldnt use the emails against him, would it help if we called back and taped them saying all of that and with there permission of course
then we could use that as evidence if they ever tried to do something
would that help him not ever go to prison

I just received the following PM from Glenna_999999:
is he in trouble
see what worries me is what can we do to be sure one hundred percent sure he wont ever get in trouble its been 8 months
and we have called and emailed the fbi and they have told us nothing but positive things
what would your advice be as a cop
My advice would be to stop worrying about it and move on!

I wouldn't worry so much if your son only downloaded a few songs. Especially after the fact that you contacted the FBI and they advised you just to stop downloading. I wouldn't go as far as taping phone conversations just yet. You may want to consider consulting a lawyer with legal expertise in copyright laws on a federal scale.

it isnt nothing worth worrying about
so it isnt anything worth worrying about even though he is 20 years old and was 19 when he did the downloaidng
or is it worth worrying about since we called and emailed the fbi

is it because
is it because they have more important things to do than worry about downloading and shit like that

Yes! The last thing the FBI wants to do is raid your home over a few songs downloaded off the internet. Things like domestic terrorism and robbery from federal banks take a far higher priority than a few songs. I would stop worrying and get over it. If the FBI even told you not to worry, than don't.

A phone call or email will not hurt your son. If you are really that worried, I would consult a lawyer with legal expertise in copyright laws. I think we have repeated our responses several times in the public forum. That's about all the advice there is to give you.
