"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"

Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

14 heavily armed SF guys checking badges at the entry point *might* have been a clue.

I'm not looking to go in doing any combat, I was considering more of a computer job or something technology related. I also saw there were some police positions as well there, and the description of it seemed like something that I would enjoy also, so I was wondering if any of you may have any opinions on that as well.

    Thank you for your time
Yes, I would highly reccommend a young person enlisting in the army, but not with the idea of staying out of combat. The army is not a trade school that you can attend for free, as the tuition costs is the promise that you'll defend your country even if it means going into combat.
Yes, there are police positions in the army too, but you can't attend their academy with the intent of not becoming a combat MP.
