I have always had the polyester blend. I always just wash them on cold, put them in the dryer on permanent press, and hang them immediately when dry. About once month I press them to get the creases back looking good.
A couple of rocks, bar of soap, and a stream. Dry by hanging on tree branches. What?!? -I am from Tennessee!
In all seriousness,
Cold wash with Woolite Dark. Permanent Press in the Dryer, then hanging immediately. That's for my normal duty wear. I usually press/iron mine twice a month, if not every weekend.
For my Class A uniforms I dry clean only, starch and press.
Always dry clean - never wash.
Gives a much more professional appearance.
(Plus, it's a deductable expense on my taxes.)
.
Same here for class A uniforms. Since I've been doing task force, I just wash my BDU's and t-shirts and toss in the dryer. I still shine my boots before roll call! Most the time I wear regular cotton t-shirts with Dept. logo and police on the front, office of the sheriff on back, but if I'm looking to impress some cute waitress, I'll wear the UA or 511 "muscle shirts" under my tac vest!
I just follow the care instruction on the label... Usually, that's machine wash warm and dry on the permanent press setting. Update the creases with the occasional run through the dry cleaner -- or, horror of horrors... break out an iron!
I usually use Laundry Soap :D
We're supposed to wash them? I just go buy new ones after wearing them for a few months
I just machine-wash mine in cold water and plain detergent (no bleach) to keep the patches from fading.
Washing machine, gentle cycle, woolite for darks.
Hang to dry in the garage.
We wear bratwear jumpsuits.
I always have mine dry cleaned. It's not so much that I hate doing laundry, I hate the ironing part. :)
We have polyester. The best way to keep things looking sharp is dry cleaning and pressing, with a wash thrown in once a month to get the really nasty stuff out.
When I wore one it was wash on Perma-Press cycle and touchup with an Iron if needed Military creases sewen into the shirts & zipper under the buttons.
I save time by showering with my uniform on.
I just beat mine on a rock in the stream, hang it on my sideview mirror to dry, and stick it between the matresses to press.
