It's been a long road but come Monday I'll be officially OTJ here in NJ with a great department, just wanted to share my excitement and also ask everyone's opinions on do's and don'ts for my first roll call...

Congratulations. Do bring doughnuts for the veterans. Don't act like you know everything there is to know about L.E. because you just got out of the academy. Don't offer your opinions on anything unless asked. Do stay safe and have fun. ;)
Congrats! Pay close attention to your FTO. Watch, listen, and learn. Ask questions.
Congrats. Stay focused.
Kind of cliched, but just take one day at a time. You will screw up, just learn from it and don't do it again.
keep your eyes and ears open. Watch and learn from your FTOs and the other veterans there
Congratulations! Now be quiet and listen. We have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Listen twice before speaking once. I'm still learning that lesson.
Congrats!....I just got out of the academy back in April.
Now it's time for the real learning!
Stay safe!
DO: shut the hell up; do as you're told; study in your off time; try your best
DON'T: be lazy or complacent now that you're out (lots of rooks think "Well, I'm a cop now!" Not necessarily...still a recruit here until you graduate from FTO); have a closed mind
Definitely appreciate all the advice being thrown my way, I'll continue to share my adventures so stay tuned. lol :p
Congratulations!!!! :thumb: :congrats
As a Training Officer... the best advice I can give you is: Ask questions, study your law, know who and what you can stop and why, keep your eyes open, and listen to your trainer..
Good Luck and Be Safe...
As mentioned before Have Fun!!!
Remember, the FTO's breakfast is on you... :whip: :biggrin1:
That's it everyone! Doing a once over of the uniform and have a dry run practice session at 2pm (EST)...Graduation kicks off at 7pm (EST)...and I'm pretty psyched to say the least.
Thanks to all you guys who chimed in with advice the next time I login to the forum it will be as an Officer..lol
