Reminds me of when I picked up a late night snack for my wife on one of our previous pregnancies. Picking up an order from Denny's and it's just after club closing. I'm at the counter when a, um, "lady", comes running up to me. He was polite, and I was professional. Of course he brought two friends with him, one of which who asked "Is it too quiet out there? Would you like us to go start some trouble?" I said no, grabbed the food and left smiling politely, extremely glad they all saw the wedding ring on my hand. It's gotta be the manly man uniform, that's it.

This mirrors my experience, and I'm just a security gate monkey. In the current economy I wonder if it's more the lure of an employed person.
