Is it the uniform?
Do you get the opposite sex flirting with you while you are in uniform, on duty or not?
I get this all the time. It must be the paper hat and vinyl apron because I do not consider myself that handsome.
This type of attention actually upsets me. I think it is a very shallow person that would come on to the "hat and apron".
What type of "uniform groupies" do you get?To Live Is To Eat

Nope. It's just the fact that you have a steady job instead of the crack addicts they normally see.

In my experience, rarely.
But when it does happen, typically it's the pretty girls trying to get out of trouble. No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends - John 15:13

There's always the lonely woman who calls 911 because she heard a "bump" in the night, and then answers the door naked or barely clothed.
I had a drunk girl leave the bar and come to my open passenger window, leaning in with her breasts about to spill out the top of her low cut dress. "Wanna party?" she slurred.
"I'm working right now."
"That's ok," she says, "I won't tell anybody!"
"My pregnant wife might have a problem with this," I said chuckling. She couldn't escape fast enough.
She was really pretty and probably wouldn't give me the time of day except for the fact I was in uniform and she was drunk.
I had the same thing happen a few years later. I was standing with a dozen other cops in a busy club area as the bars were letting out. We're out in force since there's usually brawls here. This pretty blonde girl walks up to me and she's in a tight, tiny black dress that was in all probability a negligee to begin with. She asks if I want to go party. Before you think I'm insane for not calling in my dinner break and leaving, this girl was a female version of Lou Ferrigno. She had muscles on her muscles and my guess is she was a competitive body builder. Even if I was interested in some side action with her I would probably be putting my life into her hands as she was probably quite capable to twisting me into a knot and breaking me in half. *shudder*
She got the same reply the first girl did. And again, it was all uniform, and her inebriation.
In the same area of town one night, I had another girl hit on me. It was surprising because she looked like a goth anarchist who was covered in tats. I would normally associate her with being in the "Let's wear black masks and throw molotov cocktails and jars of urine at cops!" type. She screamed from across the parking lot and came running up to me yelling she was in love with me and wanted to rub my bald head. She didn't get close, I'm sure to her disappointment. That was Twilight Zone shit.
I have no doubt it's the uniform and authority, it attracts some people. The successful ones are referred to as Badge Bunnies, Holster Sniffers, and a host of other derogatory names for women who throw themselves at cops. It's a quick path to job loss and broken marriages for us.That which does not kill me, better start fucking running.
If I lived every day like it was my last, the body count would be staggering.

Stopped a vehicle on a hot summer day leaving one of the community swimming pools. Called in the plates and intersection. Got to the car and the very pretty young 20 something year old lady had undone her bikini top and let it slip down and said "sorry officer, it never fits after I swim". I couldn't backtrack fast enough to my car. I could see the lawsuit. The divorce. The Board of Inquiry. All in a millisecond. Thank goodness a female officer was close.

Yes, and as most have said above, it's drunks and women trying to get out of trouble. If an officer falls in that trap, he is not thinking right... or not thinking at all.

A few of the other guys sometimes lament over my knack for gaining the attention of the attractive females when on calls. It frustrates them since it's wasted on me. hehehe But yeah, it's just a fantasy built up in people's heads. The same thing happens in the gay community. If anything, the vibe is stronger there. It all goes to the fact that policing (well firefighting/military too) is still very much viewed as a very masculine, powerful profession. So it's natural that anyone who is into manly men would be drawn to and fantasize about men on the job. It's not really the uniform as much as it is what the uniform represents, though both play their parts. Even for a butcher, that outfit worn at work represents a job that is generally viewed as a man's job. So the paper hat and the apron are visual cues that trigger a reaction to the manliness they represent. When I hang out online, I have some profiles that mention I'm a cop, and then some that DO NOT mention that. That way I can minimize the cop fantasy effect if need be.

On the flip side, being a woman, I get my fair share of come-ons while in uniform (and out of it...hah!). But while in uniform, it's usually some "manly man" telling me that when I want to stop acting like a man and find my inner woman, he'd be happy to show me. I also get called dyke a lot.....
