In Virginia, your Concealed Handgun Permit is linked to your DMV information. When the officer runs your license or plates registered to you, the officer gets an alert.

Only members who are verified law enforcement officers can reply in the "Ask a Cop" forum, if you are a LEO please submit your information.
It's not part of DMV, it's in VCIN -the Virginia Criminal Information Network. When you run someone in VCIN you get their basic DMV, wants/warrants, and CCW information etc.
Not required here in Georgia, but most gun advocates do just as a matter of courtesy. I prefer they tell me about it. Police don't like surprises.
I don't run every gun I come across. Just ones I encounter during suspicious circumstances. If I ran every gun I saw, dispatch would lynch me and put my head on a pike in front of our station.
I inform 'cause it's the smartest thing to do. I prefer people I stop do the same. Funny thing- most law-abiding [permit holders] are good people and the gun they possess during the stop isn't an issue.
The newest in-state software shows the officer if a permit was issued and also has a list of guns the state knows a person bought. That list of guns isn't very accurate though and even has that disclaimer on the read-out.
Here in ILLINOIS there is no concealed carry, so if you are carrying a concealed firearm on your person you'd better be a POLICE OFFICER.
I think the US District Court just shoved that up Illinois's henie, and directed them to craft a concealed carry law.
Could be wrong, I guess.

In SC, CWP requires to notify the officer at time of stop, show DL, Inc Card, Registration and permit. HR 218 are treated the same as CWP Nothing in the law says you have to id your self as a Law Enforcement Officers (of SC). If you are a cop, you show your badge and hope the hell he doesn't write you. That saying, in some places showing your badge almost GUARANTEES a ticket. Some officers (and I have worked with a lot of them) live to brag about writing a cop; and then bitch like hell and ask for favors when they get one.
Yes, they were given 180 days to formulate a concealed carry law, however it is still illegal until a law is written and put into effect.
What kind of holster do you prefer for concealed carry? Do you always carry when off duty?
I always carry. I use an off duty safailand holster with similar retention as my duty rig.
Kydex IWB either at the 2 or 4 o'clock position depending on my attire. Train with both positions to remain consistent.

In S C, with a CWP, you have to notify the officer and show your CWP and DL. No mention if active LE, but under HR218 dthey consider carry the same as a CWP. Hell, just tell hij your carryihg. He can't take if unless your under arrest.
The reason I ask is because I wanted to get a concealment holster for a Glock Model 22, and wanted to know what a good style was? Any suggestions? Is a Glock Model 22 good for concealed carry, or would you suggest a smaller model?
I've carried my duty Glock 22 almost exclusively for 8 years. Works for me.
