There's no reason you can't snack and still keep a clean car and sharp uniform.

I do sunflower seeds, corn nuts, trail mix, yogurt raisins, and jerky. Usually washed down with an Aquafina or an Arizona Diet Green Tea.

Im a water and gatorade drinker. I love jerky, there is a store way out in the boonies and I love to stop in there and get some good homemade stuff from them. I like to eat spicy peanuts, reeses, starburst, and twizzlers.

I know what you guys are talking about getting into a greasy car. I got into a wagon ion my last department one day. DAYUM, the wheel was greasy from BBQ rib grease and there were chicken wings all over the floor. I worked in the ghetto for 10 yrs. Daylight shift was mostly lazy lumps who loved to hold out on calls and eat chicken, ribs, wings, and gherry curl juice all over the headrests

Sounds odd.. But I don't snack in the car. may grab a bottle of water, or a pepsi, or a gatorade depending on what I'm craving. but for the most part all I'll eat is when I take a dinner break. If I ate between them, I'd always be eating.

Worked with a deputy once who refused to eat or drink ANY TIME he was in uniform, said it was unprofessional. He also refused to shake hands with anyone he didn't know and spent hours getting ready for work, doing his hair and what not. Funny thing though, I lived with him for about six months and never saw him brush his teeth. Damn good cop, but kinda wierd.

Bottled drinks: water, sweet tea, or Mt. Dew is my staple. Mints, gum, and starbursts are in the warbag for when I need them, i'll buy jerky when i'm desperate for a snack.

Generally, I don't snack in the car.

Donít get out in the cars much.

But when I got to the outlying posts; since we donít have plates in our vests, there is a nice little pocket to put small treats in.

One more reason to always wear your vest.

Now that's scary. I would have thought trama plates would be included for all of us.

Something new to ask departments when applying.
"You say you're providing a vest, is that an actual vest with all of the inserts, or are you really just giving me an empty/half empty carrier?"

My dept. gives us trama plates, a full vest, never thought there would be anyone out there who wouldn't.

How do you think we would look to callers with crap all over our uniforms..
Just consider your relief and other officers. I ONLY snacked when stopped and standing outside the vehicle or in a store so that I wouldnt dirty the vehicle or my uniform.
I also tried not to smoke with another officer in the car unless I had the window open half way and the cigarette propped near it.
All I am saying is try to be considerate of fellow workers both officers and civilians and your dispatchers as they are talking one to one to you BUT they are listening to as many as10 to 20 others cops and monitor their computer screens. Let them get excited and yell and YOU remain calm which will help calm them or also C.Y.A.
Take care and Be safe outthere ALL !!
Oh, now Mr. troll. Lucky for me I have a take home car!! I clean it, inside and out once a week. So how about some food!
Just because your sign off after you're shift is done, doesn't mean that it's over and put blinders on. You're a cop 24/7 wether you like it or not. If thats something you can't handle, you should find a new line of work!
