I have to wear it on traffic stops and when I get out on wrecks and broke down motorists. I like it. I can run pretty darn well with it on me head too...

We only have to wear our hats on outside details, funerals, etc. Other than that, it's up to us. The only time I wear it besides details, is when I'm out of the car & it's pouring. About the only thing it's good for is keeping my head dry.

We have to wear the campaign hat when ever dealing with the public. I've grown to like the hat. If our new Chief doesn't mandate it then I'd still wear it.
Our hat is like wcso only we didn't spill coffee on it.

Ball cap. Hell no I don't wear the thing. Bald is beautiful and I like to show off my beauty. If we had a stetson or troop hat, I might, but ball caps never look right on me.
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

Ball caps, and they're optional. Campaign hats or "Trooper" hats if you prefer are by far the coolest. I never wear my ball cap unless it's raining. As for the "Bus Driver" hats, if you have to wear them,,,I'm sorry, truly sorry.
I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

We have to wear the hat ALL the time when dealing with the public. Except if its not practical, i.e. jump out of car after someone or maybe running into a domestic. UNLESS the newly promoted Sgt is out. He will make one go back to his car just to get the hat even if we are about to fight in a bar or a domestic. Some say his lid is screwed onto his head.
We have the old LAPD style rounded ting. Or the Nazi SS hat as I like to relate it...
Oh I HATE THEM.............

I wear my hat (round service cap, or ball cap; we have both) when circumstances suggest it would be prudent. It keeps rain off my head, or saves me from yet another sunburned scalp...
But all the time? Nope.
(Note... Helmets on bikes and motorcycles are a different question entirely, and when I'm on the bike, I usually carry a ball cap. Helmet head just doesn't look sharp!)Last edited by Jks9199; 07-15-06 at 06:00 PM.

It's optional here, but after spending so long in the military I'm used to wearing one. I don't wear one when I actually have to act like a Chief, but I do wear one on patrol or raids.

Air Force style hats here. We wear them for the Dog and Pony Shows of course but other than when it's raining, they stay in the locker.

It's not required to wear a hat. Helmet is required on Bike.
If I wear anything on my head, it's one of these. Bus driver hat has a plastic thingy I put on when it rains. Godd for major accidents and other crappy situations out in the rain.
