Is She In Trouble Or Not
MY MOTHER HAS HAD A RENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COMPANY NAMES RENT A CENTER SHE RENTED A TV AND PAID FOR IT FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS, IT WAS NOT PLAYING TO WELL SO SHE ASK THEM TO FIX IT THEY WOULD NOT SO SHE FIXED IT BY CALLING A REPAIR MAN, IT COST HER ALMOST 1300.00 TO FIX SHE ONLY OWES ABOUT 500 LEFT, SHE STOP PAYING THEM AND WILL NOT RETURN THEIR TV, THEY HAVE THREATEN EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY, THEY TOLD HER THAT SHE HAS A WARRENT FOR STOLEN PROPERTY AS OF TODAY, i CALLED THE JAIL OFFICE BUT NO WARRENT IS THERE, CAN SHE BE ARRESTED AND PLACE IN JAIL WHAT CAN THEY DO TO HER? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Why spend $1300 to fix a TV?? Buy a new one for God's sake.

You can be arrested for failing to return rental property. A contract dispute would be a civil matter, however. What does the rental agreement contract your mother signed say? Also the law on this will vary from state to state. What state are you in? Originally Posted by ttbird357

I am from the state of NY, I have saw many people not pay rent a center I do not understand why she just can't show what she paid and be done with this ugly mess. I wish she never got involved with these crooks.
