The best way is to decide what part of the country you want to work in and look for the sites of the various LE agencies in that are, i.e. sheriff's or municipal police. They will usually say if they're hiring and give a lot more comprehensive info on pay, benefits, etc. If you depend on job listings on LE sites, you're going to miss a lot of opportunities.

911 hot jobs is a really good site. Also they have a forum with a lot of good info. Where do you want to work?

get a list of departments in your area, or the area you want to work in, and check their websites. Most departments have websites now. Either that, or you could call and ask.

I'm looking for southeast Wisconsin currently (by all my friends and family). I'm going to give that a year or two, and then maybe start broadening my search.
