Some more questions?

Hello again. I’m back with another set of questions. I know some of this is matter of preference or personal choices or whatnot, but I figured since there are so many of you out there who have seen so many different situations, maybe you guys would have some insight as to what's best. Thanks again for your help in advance.


1) How easy is it to lateral transfer to different states? I heard one friend who said something like California won’t accept Illinois’ academy’s training, etc.

2) The area I want to end up in (southeast Wisconsin) has very few police openings while the area I am currently in (suburban Chicago) has tons of openings. Should I seek a job here and then transfer or just move to Southeast Wisconsin and do volunteer work or whatever I can get my hands on to get my name known in the departments I’m interested in? OR Should I join the Army reserve and let them train me to be an mp, then seek work?

3) Any other tips or pieces of advice or things to consider about applying?

To come into Minnesota you have to have, I think (this is off the top of my head) 3 years of full time experience, and then take a reciprocity POST test.

Up to you. But military experience always looks good. And, you never know, you might go to the chicago area, and find out you like it a lot more there than you ever would in SE Wisconsin.

Apply everywhere, and don't be picky. You won't get the first job you apply for, and maybe not the first 50. It's a competitive field. Good luck!
