Do you like your job?
I am testing for State Police and I am interested in hearing from everyone here in LE if they truly enjoy thier job.
Please post the following:
1) What type of LEo Are you? State Trooper, Metro, Fed etc.
2) Do you have a family? Kids?
3) Do you like your job?
4) Can you support your family from JUST your income?
Thank you for your responses.
Thanks!
Mac

I think most LEOs will agree..
I love what I do. I may not always like my agency or policies, but really there is crap everywhere, some less, some more. But the job itself? Love it.
1.Urban city cop - medium sized city- all ghetto in my area- love it.
1.Wife and child
3.Love it
4.Can support ourselves with my income. Work lots of OT to sustain a level of living that we wish to maintain. As a cop you will never be rich, but you will never be broke either, rest assured. There are only two kinds of real justice left: street and poetic...

I don't want to work at all and LE is the closest thing I can come to that.
Also, our pension system is great and I'm not going to throw it away.

Please post the following:
1) What type of LEo Are you? State Trooper, Metro, Fed etc.
Municipal officer hired by the state to work at a state university.
2) Do you have a family? Kids?
One son from a former wife. It was prior LE, and he's an adult now and on his own (we filled up the spare bedroom with stuff, so he can't move back in
). I'm remarried and have no more children.
3) Do you like your job?
Tricky question. Right at this point- NO! But, most times it's okay.
4) Can you support your family from JUST your income?
My income is enough for us to survive. Luckily, my wife has her own business and when the two incomes are combined, we live at a much higher level than mere survival. Heck, we have a house with an easy mortgage, two cars (both paid for and new), a pick-up and horse trailor, and a tractor. We have enough land for my wife to run her horse business and she does a good job running it, so at times, I think my income is the secondary money."When a crime is committed, liberals blame society. Conservatives blame the criminal." -Debra Saunders

-County Deputy
-Married w/ 1 child
-I agree w/ the guy above in the speedo, the job is great and a lot of times it is what you make it. You can be as busy or stagnant as you make yourself.
-I supported the family alone during the first year my child was here. It was tight, but was possible.I'm not ruining your life, you are, and I'm just going to write a short story about it.

1>) I am a City Police Officer.
2) Yes, Married with 4 kids
3) Love my job yes, admin headaches from brass are a constant, but still love my job
4) I can, but I wouldnt recommend it. By just my job alone, it was very tight with near nothing left over for anything else. My wife has a small part time job that helps out (only brings home 1000 a month). Couple that with the overtime that I can work, things are doing ok."Sometimes people need a little help. Sometimes people need to be forgiven. And sometimes they need to go to jail."

Thanks Gents!
I appreciate your replys. Unfortunately I am looking at the State Police, and it will be our only form of income. 2 kids and a wife that likes to spend.
I hope to make some money on the sale of the house and move somewhere less expensive.
