however I do now have the choice of some very fetching day glow yellow baseball cap or woolen beanie hat for winter. Plus if worst comes to the worse a kevlar composite hard hat with visor(very good in heavy rain)

I guess it's a good thing y'all don't have guns in England cause those yellow ones would make nice bullseyes. :doh:

I dislike the ballcap style, every balding redneck here feels it's a necessary accessory. I'd rather see no hat than that type. I do like the formal "smokey bear" style though, serious intimidation factor, especially when paired with a nice, dark pair of sunglasses.

When wearing my Smokey hat I have noticed much less attitude from problem people. For large scale traffic direction details specifically wrecks they are a big help.

Far more danger of being struck by a car than a bullet. Thats why we are the kings of reflective and day glow material.

I've noticed much less attitude when I wear my baton. The baton has the added advantage of not being a Smokey the Bear hat. :)
