Man wears bright green dress and pink leg warmers to funeral of his best friend, a soldier killed in Afghanistan, to honor a pact they had made
More here:It was a promise neither man would have wanted to keep. Yesterday the funeral of a Black Watch soldier killed in Afghanistan took a bizarre turn when his best friend arrived in a bright green dress and pink leg warmers to honour a pact that the two of them had made.
Private Kevin Elliott and his friend, Barry Delaney, had agreed that whoever survived the other should wear a dress to the dead man’s funeral. Mr Delaney duly fulfilled the pledge as a tribute to Private Elliott, who was killed aged 24 while on foot patrol in the southern province of Helmand on August 31.

Rest easy Private Kevin Elliott.
It's a bit different to be sure, and good on Mr Delaney for following through. His display of loyalty to his friend speaks volumes about the young man lost.

What a heartbreaking photograph. Mr. Delaney was a true friend, and his loss can be seen in his face.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

I have a fella that lives in the farming community area I do that served in Vietnam and made a pact with a couple brother Soldiers in the same fashion about never shaving his beard again if any of them did not come home. He does keep it up but his beard is about a foot long and has not been shaved off since he flew home after his tour.
And to the fallen Soldier, RIPSTOP RESISTING!!!!
For he is God's servant to do you good, but if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
