RIP Pfc Scott L. Roth
Tonight is the 20th anniversary of operation Just Cause in Panama. Pfc Scott L. Roth was KIA at 2355 hrs this date while conducting an operation in downtown Panama City with the 401st MP Company. We had engaged a Panamanian Defense Force patrol at an intersection in front of the Albrook Air Force Station and he was a M-60 gunner in my platoon. He was one of the first casualties of this invasion and was only 19 years old. Our unit took mortar fire and engaged the PDF numerous times during the next several days while conducting our operations and our company was awarded the Valorous Unit Award for the actions of our company. I will toasting you tonight my friend.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G.I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. ~ Anon

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
