So, let me get this straight...everybody bitches and raises hell saying that we need to pull out of Afghanistan now that Osama's dead. And now y'all are whining about Obama saying that he's pulling some of the troops out?? Remember, if Jr would have concentrated on Afghanistan to begin with instead of going into Iraq, the troops would have been done and out years ago (probably).

Do not agree with this. We should not "pull out" just because Osama is dead or for any other reason until the job is done.
I agree with this. Now that Iraq is "ok" for us to leave in the completely "competent" hands of the locals, we should at least complete one objective. However, I am beginning to wonder what exactly the objective is and what is the proper term of complete. Originally Posted by McCrackhd

My two cents for what they are worth.
In Afghanistan we were trying to:
1. Destroy Al Qaeda training camps (Done)
2. Disrupt/Destroy Al Qaeda networks in region (Not tied into intel, but safe to say we did this by tying them up there)
3. Send a message (no one we were talking to will admit this but we did)
4. Kill Osama (check)
By these four things we were very successful. Now, when you have an advantage how to you press it? If you are going to pull out make sure you put intel assets there, and I'm all for a base in the region. No where near any city, but in the region. Just me personally, but Karzai would used to send another message.
ETA: Time table with numbers is dumb as hell as stated below.

I dont care if they pull out, just dont give the enemy the timeframe of WHEN we are doing it. Thats what I hate about his announcement. He is a dick for telling them was my point. I think ALL of the current crop of politicians suck ass, hopefully things will get better.
