Ex-Marine regrets criticizing Obama on Facebook
People ask me, ‘Would you go back and change those words?’ I would most definitely,” Stein told msnbc.com. “I would articulate my point better.”
On March 1, Stein wrote on a closed forum for active-duty meteorologists and oceanographers that he would say "Screw Obama" and not follow all orders from him, according to Courthouse News.
“Obama is the economic enemy,” he wrote in the post. “He is the religious enemy ... He is the ‘fundamentally change’ America enemy … He IS the Domestic Enemy.”More here: http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20...d-take-it-backLast month, a three-member military panel recommended that he be booted from the Marine Corps. On Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Daniel Yoo accepted their recommendation that Stein be dismissed for violating military law.
Stein said he repeatedly told Marine Corps officials he would shut down the Facebook page and not speak with the press if they allowed him to complete his contract, which ends in three months, but they refused.

You are who you represent. Like it or not, it's career suicide to insult the boss.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Military Justice System is its own separate institution. What they do, so long as we have a volunteer military, is not mine to comment on.
That said, I won't sleep any sounder tonight because Staff Sgt. Stein has been removed from the watch. If this is all it takes to remove a Marine from his post I may take to worrying for others in similar positions.

I couldn't agree more. I feel bad for the Marine, but I was in Bill Clinton's Army. He wasn't popular with us, but our CO's made it clear that if we bashed our boss in public, there would be consequences. So kept our mouth shut. Of course Facebook wasn't around then, but the principle is still the same.

While I think we all have our right to say what we think, often, discretion is called for dependent upon the position for which one holds. I may or may not think my boss is an asshat, but to put that out is a risk. While I agree with Sgt. Stein's right to his opinion, he could have made his points in a manner in which he stressed he was opposed to the current regime, but was obligated to carry out his duties. That said, it's a shame that we lost a defender of all of our rights when Sgt. Stein was dismissed from the Marines.

I have a strong feeling that if it was Bush when he was in office, then nothing would have happened to him.

Military personnel take an oath to defend the United States from enemies, foreign and domestic.
Stein has voiced his belief that Obama is a domestic enemy. I can't say I disagree.Wiping the turds of humanity from the ass of society from 1600 to midnight.
