He Wanted To Be A Cop
Noticed the barracks area and figured I'd share this for my first thread. Just another aspect to such an amazing man. Some are just wired to serve.
DALWORTHINGTON GRADENS, Tex. — Chris Kyle, the Navy SEAL killed by a veteran colleague at a shooting range, had been planning to become a police officer.
Described as one of America’s deadliest military snipers — and ‘untouchable’ overseas — Kyle had been filling out paperwork with the Dalworthington Gardens Police Department days before his death, according to CBS-11.
“He was ready to go,” Chief Bill Waybour said.
Kyle told Waybourn that he wanted start as a rookie like everyone else, and would work his way up.
“He had the biggest servant’s heart that I think I have ever seen,” Waybourn said.
Waybourn and Kyle had been working on organizing a free concealed handgun license course for a thousand local school employees, according to the article.
Waybourn said it won’t be the same now, but added he owes it to Kyle to make sure it happens, and it will be completed in his name and his honor.
Kyle had taken veteran Eddie Ray Routh, a 25-year-old Marine who had served tours in Iraq and Haiti, to an exclusive gun range, where Routh opened fire on Kyle and a second man, Chad Littlefield, killing them both, according to the New York Times.
Routh was captured a few hours later near his home following a brief pursuit. He will be charged with two counts of capital murder, law enforcement officials said.
