Busting phony Navy SEALS
The man's name is Don Shipley. His YouTube channel is buds131. I found this guy a few months ago and now can't get enough of his videos. The man is very funny. He is a retired Navy SEAL and he now investigates people who are claiming to be SEALS in order to get jobs, contracts, media attention, etc. Once he sinks his teeth into a phony, he makes complete fools of them on his channel. It's troubling enough that people are out stealing valor, but what really makes my blood boil is that Mr. Shipley has exposed some law enforcement officers who are making phony claims of being former SEALS. You would think that lying about your military background would be grounds for termination for a law enforcement officer.

I never served in the military. I was washed out by the MEPS Doctor for having documented cases of asthma after the age of 12, so my working knowledge of the military is quite limited. What I like about Mr. Shipley's videos is the screening techniques I've learned to root out a phony SEAL. On the street I routinely run into losers who claim to be Airborne Rangers, Special Forces, Air Force PJs, etc. in an attempt to intimidate me. I have yet to have someone say they where a Navy SEAL but when the day comes the first thing I will ask is what BUDS class they were in, what was the date of their graduation, what Team they were assigned to and was their Team on the east or west coast. Based off of Mr. Shipley's information I can tell if they are a fake right away.
I'm guessing that one of the first rules of serving in any kind of military special operations is you don't talk about it.

Working in the joint, it seems that just about every con that's a vet claims some type of special forces background. I have access to their records, and have yet to find a single one that was in special forces. In fact, a large percentage of them received less than honorable discharges. Go figure. For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Most legit special ops folks won't make a big deal out of it. It's something they do or did. You know, kind of like most cops and SWAT types. I've known SEALs, Green Berets, Rangers, Force Recon, spook operators... No Air Force PJs or Coast Guard rescue swimmers, to the best of my knowledge. Most of them don't make a big deal out of it, like I said. If they do, it's probably because it's relevant to something. (Like watching some movie and laughing at something that's just totally wrong...)Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

Well Mr. Shipley just uploaded his latest phony SEAL video. It involves a retired police officer from Michigan who has numerous photos of himself dressed in an Army uniform with a SEAL Trident displayed. The Senior Chief calls the guy and the phony lies up a storm about his service, training class, and he names a character in a Tom Clancy book as being one of the people he went through BUDS Training with.
