Hi all I am looking to get a .357 similar to the S&W 340 M&P, I will first use is for CCW then for my back up and off duty carry when am a CHP.
What revolvers that are "snag resistant" due you recommend?
If you not familiar with the 340 it is the hammerless 12oz 1.87 barrell.
also if you have one can you recommend a holster?
Before you invest the cash, are you sure CHP will let you carry it?
If not I still want something similar as a off duty and CCW but yes I believe it is on the CHP approved list.
I encourage the civilian concealed carry of firearms, but in your particular case I would advise against spending any of your hard earned cash on a specific weapon until you get hired and find out if you can carry it.Quote:

That said, the 340, 442, 642, or any of those series of revolvers are excellent weapons which are difficult to master. Go shoot one a lot on a range before you purchase it, and you'll see what I mean.
I carry the 442-1, and love it.
did you consider any other weapons...charter arms, taurus, or any others.

That said, Smith still makes the best wheelgun I have ever seen, and for me it was worth the extra price.
You can stage the trigger on a Smith, and still make accurate shots with a snub to 25 yards.
The Taurus revolvers are sweet, but they never seem to have the trigger that the Smiths do.

I have the 340 PD and love it. 340 is not an M&P 340 is a 5 shot j frame the M&P is a 6 shot K frame.
Be advised that the J frame Magnums are a bitch to shoot. I am a recoil junkie, but I really hate the tiny magnums. They flat out hurt to shoot.
I recomend the Smith 442 .38 special.
I will more than likely get .38 +p ammo but for duty or carry use low grain .357
