What pistol to buy?
Well the go ahead has been given by the commander. A new pistol will be purchased before the end of the year. The only question is what to buy?
I am a die hard 1911 fan and this thread, http://apbweb.com/forums/firearms-bu...pistola-43710/ , has me thinking about a 9mm 1911 of some kind perhaps but I'm not sure. I'm just now starting my window shopping. Anyway, outside of a Beretta I'm open to suggestions. Leaning heavy toward another 1911 platform. What's your favorite?Do not war for peace. 9mm in a 1911 platform? I'd take a look at Para Ordnance. They have an 18 round 1911 in 9mm.
We are issued the S&W M&P 9mm. Most reliable auto I've ever shot. Light on the belt, fits perfectly in the hand. I own a compact model, and the duty size is issued. Neither have malfunctioned. 0 malfunctions between the two guns (around 20,000 combined rounds at this point). The world would be much cleaner if blind people carried brooms instead of sticks.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction. Those bastards won't get away this time.

I'm always a little leary of the 1st year models of anything, preferring to allow them time to get the bugs worked out. But I'm looking forward to fondeling the new Ruger 1911.

Depending on your budget, for a 1911 in 9mm, I'd look into STI. Couple of our guys rock them. One of the smoothest guns I've ever shot.

.45 is NOT out of the question by any means. Neither is anything aside from 1911 platform.

I j bought a Taurus 1911, .45, and if I were allowed to do so, would use it as a duty gun. Very accurate, very reliable, zero problems, plus a great price. It has all of the features of the higher price "race" guns.

That new ruger is eye catching. Could also look at the Remington version also.

I'll second the STI suggestion.

Colt, Springfield, Kimber (with some parts replacements,) and STI.
1911's are like any other weapon. Buy it from someone who makes a lot of them that work.I'm your huckleberry...

I have a Kahr K9 and I love it. It's compact, DAO and no external safety. The only downside is that it only holds 8 rounds. I think's like if a Glock and a 1911 had a baby.
One of my co-workers recently traded his Colt Commander (.45) in for a Kahr K40. His Colt would not reliably feed JHP ammo. He has a number of handguns, but the K40 is his every day carry piece now.

I haven't shot one, but I had to have a Kahr blue gun to make HudsonHawk a holster with, and WOW does it feel nice in the hand. I must say after handling it and getting it into a nice holster, I would really like to shoot one.
I also have a railed Taurus 1911, and it is crazy accurate. I just can't get into 1911's as much as I would like to, but that Taurus is nicer than the Kimber that I once had.
Aside from that, my newest addition is a Glock 34... Greatest pistol I've ever pressed the trigger on. Flat, minimal recoil, lightening fast on follow up shots. It is equipped with Dawson sights and I swear they are magic!"Aim small, miss small."

What's your price range and goal for the gun?
If you want it to be a super target gun then definitely go with an up scale 1911.
Next pistol I am buying will be an SW M&P9 VTAC. I will be using it for 3 gun and if it ever passes in Illinois, carry. Something to look at.

Lew....I bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum....and it is my favorite fun gun. Nothing like a 320 grain super hardcast flatnose bullet moving at 1600 feet per second to kill stuff....and it is literally a blast to shoot. Don't cost much to buy a slightly used one....and it will kill ANY zombie in the world. Put a small pistol scope on it and hit at 100 yards with enough power to brng down most anything in your part of the world.
