Dubuque is my favorite city to drive through. For this flatlander it offers inspiring vistas, a grand record of man's triumph over limestone, with a salt of the earth mix of new and old industry along with potholes of a size I'm used to navigating. It's the kind of city where I'm sure I could join a bowling team and live happily ever after without much more than a glance.
Sadly most of my trips through have been just that, but I have at least one stop now.
