The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is opening the region’s doors to anyone — on-the-lam legislator or not — who’s ready to find a new hideaway.
Taking advantage of Rockford’s 15 minutes of infamy stemming from the ongoing legislative drama in the Wisconsin statehouse, the CVB on Friday announced a “Hideaway in Rockford” campaign to highlight the region’s amenities.
In a cheeky news release, John Groh, the CVB’s chief executive officer, lists some of the deals awaiting the cash conscious, including specials at CoCo Key water park at the Clock Tower Resort and Conference Center, discounts at the Burpee Museum of Natural History and the Carlson Ice Arena. (Mention the “Hideaway in Rockford” special to take advantage of the discount.)
“We want folks to come to Rockford for their own legislation vacation. Rockford is full of opportunities for folks to do some collective bargaining at our locally owned stores and shops,” he said in the release.
