Vegan magazine criticized for publishing stock photos of meat and trying to pass them off as vegan

With the help of an anonymous reader tip, the author of the vegan blog, quarrygirl.com, accused VegNews of using food images of meat in its magazine and website and passing them off as meatless. The allegation prompted the San Francisco-based publication to confess that it had, "from time to time," used stock images that turned out not to be totally animal-free.
"The pictures we've been drooling over for years are actually of MEAT!" she charged.
To support the allegation, the irate post compared pictures of recipes on VegNews.com with photographs from royalty-free image service, iStockphoto. One example shows an image of a "veganized" Brunswick stew recipe from VegNews.com and an identical image from iStockphoto titled "chicken breast-soup-stew-pepper."
"Get your barf bags ready!" quarrygirl.com editorialized.
In perhaps the most egregious example, the post compared pictures of "Vegan Spare Ribs" and "Barbecue Ribs Dinner," pointing out where the bones were apparently edited out of the image.
"Veg News has written tens (possibly hundreds) of articles extolling the virtues of a vegan lifestyle, while purchasing rock-bottom priced stock photos of MEAT, EGGS, DAIRY and other completely non-vegan things," the post said.

Who eats vegans? Well, at least without a good marinade?

I find it hilarious that vegans take a moral stand to engage in an animal free lifestyle, yet every free moment of that lifestyle it seems is spent imitating the comforts and nutrition provided to us by animals in the natural ecosystem of life. Every meat substitute, every swatch of faux leather, every soy milk substitute is a concession and an implicit admission that as humans we are programmed to reap the benefits of the top of the food chain, and despite their moral stand () they are still subject to the same evolutionary desires as the rest of us. Bah.

In short...imitation meat ribs? Get over yourself and go eat a steak.

When the F you coming out for training again? Next time, we'll hit that place and schedule you a ride along.

Seriously though, I went there for my bday last month. I was in a medium-rare filet and lamb chop coma afterwards. Bliss.

I want to take you to Beths and challenge you to the big omelette. I can eat it, so I know you probably can.

Is Beth's the place that has a 12 egg omelet stuffed with meat, cheese, and potatoes (or something like that)?

    Yes.

Seattle also has the Hurricane, which made a 24 egger. I ate it once, when my little brother was the manager there. He stuffed it extra full with stuff, too.

I admit I did not complete the hash browns.

I invite anyone in to Sapp Brothers truck stop here in the Denver area to do their Overloaded Skillet, featured on Freakiest Foods. It's actually in my jurisdiction, and is a favorite breakfast spot for cops all over my area.

An even dozen eggs, a couple pounds of hash browns, a couple pounds of ham/bacon/sausage, a full pound of cheese, topped with a couple cups of Hollandaise, served with three pancakes. Far as I know, only one dude has done it. Oh. Em. Gee.

PGG eats free day? I approve in concept, but can you afford to bankroll the holiday the nation takes off to watch? Probably should get the TV rights locked up first.
