Maple-bacon ice cream sundae

So I was in a small Ohio town one night last week and the only restaurant in the area (that was open) was Denny's. It did give me the opportunity to try their maple-bacon sundae, which was actually fairly good. The vanilla ice cream-bacon-maple flavor combination was delicious, but the syrup used was a maple flavored pancake syrup which was far too thin to be used on ice cream. There was perhaps a half inch high pool of syrup at the bottom of the sundae dish, so in order to taste the combination of flavors in one bite you had to make a concerted effort to get every component on the spoon.

I think I'd make a thicker syrup using real maple and also use a peppered bacon. However, if you're in the vicinity of a Denny's it's worth a couple of bucks to try their version.

There is a small bakery here that has maple bacon long johns.

This is just wrong in so many ways. LOL
