Poop meat: Coming soon?
Anyone up for some poop burgers?
Japanese scientist Mitsuyuki Ikeda from the Okayama Laboratory certainly doesn't believe in human waste.
He thinks that's perfectly good protein you're sending out to sea, and he's found a way to extract it, mix it with steak sauce and create a fecal feast fit for a king.
And despite the downside of having to add soya to bind it all together, Prof Ikeda thinks there's no reason why we shouldn't all tuck into his turd burgers.
Why would he even think of it, you might ask.
Because Tokyo Sewage asked him to. Tokyo is swimming in sewage mud, it seems, and there's only one way it can save itself and that's [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]eat[/COLOR] it.
Prof Ikeda found the mud was loaded with protein due to the high bacteria content. Combine it with reaction enhancer and put it in a magical machine called an "exploder" and artificial steak comes out the other end.

I am just as grossed out as the rest of you. Heck I get grossed out just breathing in stores sometimes. "I'm sharing air with..gulp!"
And while I'm still suspecting this story will turn out to be a hoax, or a bad translation...hmm...just what do we eat? Well, we're eating plants and animals who have grown their flesh based on....poop to grow all those plants, poop to grow those plants the animals eat, and they live in their own poop. Pigs make saunas of it, yet people pickle their hooves and eat them. With mushrooms it's a simple fungus growing right in poop, and yet I do love mushrooms. Do I trust a fungus more than some Japanese scientist guy? Well yes I do!
But I'm not sure it's at all rational. Nor was draining a 7.8 million gallon open air reservoir because some guy introduced 10oz of urine to it. I sure do understand the grossed out parts of all of it though...except with mushrooms.
Suddenly sausage making doesn't seem very disturbing at all, except the political kind.

From what I understand, they extract the bacteria and use the bacteria protein as a base for the rest. In the process, the bacteria is thoroughly killed off, as well as any germs and disease carrying agents.
