One business that caught me was a little cupcake shop.

Behind the wall of stars is a little known symbol of WWII. "Kilroy was here" was added after the memorial was built. On either side of the wall this appears at the bottom of the service stairs.

Some of the streets are made of cobblestone. These stones were used for ship ballast. When the ships unloaded their in DC to take on freight, they would leave the stones and pave roads with them.

The issues was that someone took a picture of the vehicle while holding the camera above. The camera was dropped and he claimed it caused $800 damage.
Apparently this attention whore parks this vehicle in a high traffic tourist area and gloats over the attention. At the time of my scolding he was eating his dinner out of a plain brown paper bag (probably a bologna sandwich from home) about 8 ft from said vehicle. I showed him how the camera strap was wrapped around my wrist and that I would not drop it. I proceeded to take a few more pics.
The nerve of this guy. Doesn't he know he had a brush with one of the most famous photojournalists? :humble:
:p
If you are still around Old Town, check out Bilbo Baggins restaurant. The entire inside is painted with scenes of the Shire. The food used to be really spectacular (I probably haven't eaten there in 15 years.) Great food and interesting ambiance.
Another visit to DC for me will mean eating in Old Town Alexandria for a week!
This one in particular would be a two night visit.
