Mr. IMG Goes To Washington
Off to Washington DC!
Sightseeing stops include...
1 day in Gettysburg, PA
2 1/2 days in Alexandria, VA
1/2 day in Philadelphia, PA
1/2 day in Hershey, PA
2 travel days out and back with two stops in Indianapolis, IN. and Wheeling, WV.
Free hot breakfast at all hotels. THAT was cool. The overnight stays in Indianapolis had free drinks and free hot food at happy hour!
Our bus
(photobucket is not cooperating)

As we were traveling we took turns sitting in the front. That was cool except there was a lot of road work going on. We were 2 hours behind getting into Gettysburg.

Gettysburg, PA
story1.htm
Gettysburg Battlefield tour was about 2 hours long and covered the three day battle from beginning to end. Our guide said the weather was the same that day as the days of the battle, hot, humid, and no wind.
I captured a confederate canon.

More of Lee's canons.

Lee's Monument.

What Pickett's Charge saw that day.

Alabama and Texas had just completed 28+ miles to get here and were to be sent into battle 10 minutes after they arrived.

Gettysburg is a very impressive place. As is all of them. I've been priviledged to see them and would love to go back.

We roll into town early afternoon.
This is about the best pic we can get of the Pentagon.

Off to Smithsonian
We were given about 2 hours to see what the Smithsonian had to offer.

Two hours is nowhere NEAR enough time for the Smithsonians. For me, I doubt two weeks would do it.

It was very much worth it.So many historical sights in five days. We did get inside our Whitehouse, more about that later. The first five days the temperature was 90+ degrees.
The four travel days were quick stops. A casino, Bob Evans, McDonalds, Cracker Barrel (x2). When we arrived in Alexandria we had the option of being dropped off in Alexandria, VA : Award-winning restaurants and an amazing nightlife. Saturday night a friend picked us up for a dinner at his house. More about Alexandria coming up.
I did a couple of my own "tours". They will leave you saying, "Did he really eat all that?"

PETA???
Wouldn't you know it, of all the exhibits to run into, I found a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA): The animal rights organization | PETA.org exhibit outside the Natural History Museum. There were many blonde coeds handing out literature. I had a nice conversation with one about me being a butcher and she told me the usual veggie this, animal abuse that. Fun times, heh.

It was not until we arrived in Washington DC that my brother told me he has two exhibits at the Air and Space Museum.
Exhibit #1
http://www.jrank.org/space/pages/224...xperiment.html
The object that looks like a camera at the lower right is actually a magnifying glass. I placed the lens of my camera inside the magnifying glass to get a picture of the sensor he designed and made.

The sensor is only 1/4 inch in diameter.

Exhibit #2

Washington, D.C. Old Town Alexandria
This was a long, hot day. Gettysburg and The Smithsonian. We were ready for a cool adult beverage and some great food!
The bus dropped us off in Alexandria, VA: Travel and Historical Information
We decided on The Fish Market - Old Town Alexandria, Virginia
This was a great choice. Service and food was top notch.

We ate in the Anchor Bar - Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Aptly named for it's anchor shaped tap tower.

I had to have a classy Stella Artois

Of course I had to try some fresh oysters.

A little horseradish/ketchup/lemon juice. YUMMMM

The aftermath

On to the entree!
My brother had the mussels marinara

I had the lobster rolls. This was my first lobster roll. Shredded lobster in a slightly sweet dressing. This was a lot of D-licious lobster!

I had to try the mussels too. A very rich marinara sauce that matched the richness of the mussels. Very tasty!

The experience here would not have been half as good without Sean (sp) and Naomi. They were friendly and attentive.

Sean did not mind being told he looks like
