The ribs would have been some of the best I have except they dumped a ladel full of sauce on them right before they handed them to me. They did not ask if I wanted sauce. The ribs were actually very good.

It really was not that bad. Basic funnel cake batter with lost of cinnamon. The final product was more like a hot buttered cinnamon roll. I did get some other pics of said butter. The vendor said they were selling about 100/hour.

Hop on the shuttle.
There is a lower level in the parking ramp that is street level. It seemed no one else turned left inside the entrance. I had a Hollywood parking spot the entire fair.

Quesadilla Junction won Best of Show for his concession stand.
Oliver Regal of Regal Concessions
Oliver and two others work the Iowa State Fair. Oliver has 27 years of experience with concessions. He gives credit to his Dad for getting him started. Regal Concessions has a new crab fritter stand that Oliver hopes to bring next year. The Crab Fritter stand is appearing at the Minnesota State Fair.

I ordered a Steak and Egg Quesadilla. This is one of the many "secret menu" items you can find throughout the fair.
The Steak and Egg Quesadilla was very tasty. The steak reminds me of my carne asada recipe. Tender steak, tangy cumin and pepper marinade.

Shrimp Popper Fries
The Shrimp Popper Fries was on the list of new foods at this years state fair.
Located at the Po Boy stand.
A little bit of hot sauce. They should be shot for not having Louisiana Hot Sauce
Off to the Iowa Craft Beer Tent!
My Beeritual Advisor recommended a beer from Olde Main Brewing Co.
Clone Pale Ale
The beer was a great choice for the food. The real disappointment was the shrimp poppers. I expected a cream cheese/jalapeno/shrimp combo. This was minced shrimp with some unidentifiable hi temp cheese. The hot sauce made up for the misleading popper name.
