Russian Coleslaw
Try this one out , IMGreat , you won't be sorry.
Russian Coleslaw
Ingredients :
Half a head of cabbage
One can of sauerkraut
One pound of bacon
Four green onions
Dill relish to taste.
Favorite type of dill pickles to taste.
Fry bacon in skillet until crispy. Save bacon grease in skillet.
Chop cabbage fine but not to fine pieces.
Chop up green onions.
Chop up pickles.
In a large bowl combine the cabbage , sauerkraut , green onions , pickles, dill relish and bacon affer cutting into approx. 1/4 inch pieces. Mix well.
Now my favorite part , pour the bacon grease over the top of the mix and then mix well again.
What is really nice about the recipe is that it is extremely flexible. You can adjust how much or how little of a particular ingredeint or the chop and it is still all good.
Works well as a side dish or garnish for hot dogs , hamburgers or sandwiches of all types.SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"

Aussie coleslaw
Brought this back from my last trip south: served at a cafe near Ayers Rock. No mayonaise

Shred 1 head ordinary cabbage with knife. Shred one red onion with knife. Add some cheap Italian salad dressing (like Newman's). Chop and mix in large bowl, and add blue cheese crumbles to suit your cheese addiction. Let it sit a spell and serve chilled. Season with black pepper if needed. Simple and tasty. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.-- Anonymous

We grilled some burgers the other night and I decided to make Captain Americas Russian Coleslaw.
The burgers were my special blend 1:1 top sirloin and chuck. The hamburger buns were a different recipe that I am going to use from now on. Homemade Hamburger Buns » Via Viands I do not add as much honey.

Russian Coleslaw ingredients. I used 4 green onions and dill pickles only.

Ingredients chopped and ready to mix. Masonjarita© optional

Found another way to serve the Russian Coleslaw the other day. I made some home made chili and beans the other day. I put some of the left over slaw in a serving bowl and topped it with the hot chili. It was pretty damn good if I say so myself.
