Christmas Cookie Exchange?
Is anyone interested in doing a cookie exchange? We did it a couple of years ago, all you have to do is send a dozen cookies and you'll receive a dozen cookies.

I volunteer to act as a "taste consultant!" (me like cookies!)

As long as we're on this meat diversion... IMG, I'm curious what your mincemeat pie recipe is, should you have one for public consumption. It's sort of a long running family debate what is authentic so it's a recipe I take a keen interest in

Pecan cookies with tiny bacon chips seem like they'd be good. Anyone tried that yet and lived?

As long as you do not pour Louisiana Hot Sauce over it, I am sure you will survive.

I will be over at my folks today. My Mom might have her mother's mincemeat pie recipe.
Trivial note: My older sis loved Grandma's mincemeat so much we used to find empty mason jars in her closet.

From my Mom:
Grandma Annie's Economy Mincemeat Pie
(this was not the way Grandma Seidl made it, I do not know her recipe, but I know she used suet)

Add the following ingredients:
3 cups diced cooked apples
1 cup raisins
1 diced orange (optional--grandma did not use)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1 tblsp oleo
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

That sounds damn tasty and meatier than most by a mile. The orange intrigues me, haven't seen that used before, hmmmm.
