Have you been to any of these? Are they in your area? What did you think?
I've been to Galatoire's and Commanders Palace. I love brunch on Sunday at Commanders for the food and the atmosphere. Galatoire's was good.*************************"It wouldn't take much for me to up and run...to another life somewhere in the sun."

"Best" is subjective, but I've very much enjoyed the meals in the locations I've visited. Of those on the list, I've been to each of these at least once:
The Walrus and the Carpenter, Seattle
Charlie Trotter's, Chicago
Joe's Stone Crab, Miami
Spago, Los Angeles
Gotham Bar & Grill, NYC
August, New Orleans
The Modern, NYC
Frontera Grill, Chicago
Katz's, NYC
Commander's Palace, New Orleans
Cochon, New Orleans (the first time I went there was also the first time I've eaten pig ears
)
Peter Luger, Brooklyn
I really, really want to get to these:
Next, Chicago
Alinea, Chicago
Momofuku, NYC
Per Se, NYC
Le Bernardin, NYC
And not on the list but most definitely a place I plan to hit this year:
Hot Doug's
