St Patrick's Day food
Do you cook anything special for St Patrick's Day? I always cook corned beef and cabbage, this year I'm making soda bread instead of buying it, and I'm also making shepherd's pie.
This year I think I'm going to cook the corned beef in a slow-cooker with a little Guinness. If you cook corned beef, how do you prepare it?

I'm probably not cooking much of anything. I think I have to work. I slow cook corn beef but I just use water. I never heard of using Guinness. I like to add a big ol' bag of frozen brussels sprouts in for the last hour and a half or so. I like to cook sprouts and corn beef on cold rainy days for some reason. It kind of goes with the weather to me.

Brussel sprouts and corned beef sounds like a great combo!
Gaaaaaaak! = approval in a Nepalese dialect?
We will be doing some kind of corned beef and veggies. Even though corned beef originated somewhere around Pakistan. Soda bread is a simple peasant type bread. Some versions varied to include zante currants (small grapes and not actually currants).
My gf's boss makes his soda bread with zante currants, and he embellishes it every customer. A healthy sample comes home every year because he wants me to show my approval. Working with him is like that Ted Allen video that Buttercup posted.
I am sure some of the leftover corned beef will be gilded with my homemade sauerkraut.

Not being Irish, I shall ignore the day completely. As should everyone else who is not Irish (and by not Irish, I mean those that don't have an Irish passport!)
