I'll be hitting the local Goodwill stores for a used one before I pony up for a new one.

Amazon.com: Hamilton Beach 68330R 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker: Kitchen & Dining

You may be able to find the second one (or a similar one) pretty cheaply at Target or Walmart. That type of ice cream maker is better for spontaneous ice cream creation in that you just use ice and rock salt, you don't need to freeze the canister.
