Food Gifting.
Over the years my customers have given me gifts of food. The usual cookies and candies during holidays and a few unusual items.
One customer stands out. An elderly Chinese lady has been bringing dumplings filled with marinated pork and egg rolls.
The other day she waited for me at the end of the counter. She pulled out a small bundle from a sack and handed it to me. It was a six inch by five inch leaf wrapped bundle that was tied up with a heavy twine. She told me it was called "donk", I may have heard her wrong. It is sticky rice filled with Chinese sausage, marinated pork, dried shrimp and peanuts, wrapped in bamboo leaves, tied up and cooked eight hours. She instructed me to microwave it for one minute and enjoy.
I was like a little kid on Christmas morning!

Microwaved one minute The bundle had a scent that reminded me of tea. Cut the twine off.

Carefully unwrapped.

This was wrapped with six palm leaves.

You can see this was full of the sausage, pork, dried shrimp and peanuts.
I really enjoyed all of the flavorful bites in this.

I did a little research into this.
