I am sorry to hear of the death of Claude Nobs . He is the man who started ,and put on the Montreaux Jazz Festival . A great guy -- the " Funky Claude" mentioned in- Smoke On The Water-- One of my favorite memories is having lunch at his Swiss villa in 1986 -- sitting with Buddy Guy,Jr. Wells, Robert Cray ,Otis Rush, Luther Allison, John Mayall , Coco Montoya and others ,while Dr. John serenaded us on piano . RIP Claude NobsThe Jazz Festival said Nobs, a native of Montreux, died Thursday after sustaining injuries from a fall while cross-country skiing in nearby Caux-sur-Montreux on Christmas Eve.
