Tactical/uniform pants for shorties
I need some advice. I'm almost 5'3" and pants sized for normal height people tend to do things like cover my ribs, cut off my digestion, double as a bra, and other unacceptable behavior. I need a brand of (preferably) tactical style pants that will hit below my belly button. I have not been able to find a local supplier for said pants, and in fact most don't carry ANYTHING in women's sizes, much less for short women. Any advice?

I know the Tru-Spec brand are available in short/regular/long styles. They are available from a variety of on-line resources like: TRU-SPEC Federal BDU Trousers
Hope this helps. . .

Hemming isn't the problem although having reinforced knees that actually hit me at the knee would be an intriguging and novel idea. The bigger problem is the position on the waist on my torso. Most uniform pant waists literally come up over my lower ribcage when standing and sitting down isn't a joy either. Pushing the waistband down where it needs to ride just causes the pants to bag off my ass. The waist is high enough that when I sit down my belt literally interferes with my bra. It looks like I'm going to have to track down some local 5.11 retailers because as most women can tell you, buying pants online is a roll of the dice as to fit.

I've seen 5.11 pants on people I never thought would be able to find uniform pants.

I would proudly serve as his throw down cop.
I have found that 5.11 pants fit rather well except for the length. (obviously) Try one size larger than you normally wear and adjust with a belt as necessary. Just a thought.
If that doesn't work a tailored pant may be what you need. If you are longer in the leg and shorter in the torso then a waistband alteration may be in order.Do not war for peace. If you must war, war for justice. For without justice there is no peace. -me
