how effective are leg strikes with a baton in stopping a resistive or violent subject?

I carry the Taser and an Asp baton.
The Taser definitely commands more respect from suspects right now, but that's because not enough of them have taken a full force blow to the shin from a baton.
Seriously, The Taser is better for people who aren't responding to pain stimulus (if the barbs hit) because of the involuntary muscle contraction.
