Kudos to the Greenville, SC PD
I just want to take a second to recognize some fine police work!
As I mentioned in another thread, my brother was robbed Sunday while walking with his fiance in a relatively decent neighborhood. Yesterday the kid carrying the gun was arrested and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping (since he moved them from one spot to their car to get money) and the remaining males involved are identified. I'm entirely impressed by the department and the good work they did, and told my brother he sure as hell better write a letter for everyone involved. I know how often police get complaints, and even a simple letter of thanks can mean a good deal. He works for a Senator so he said he'll try to get them involved as well, which is great for the department. Below is the ICR narrative I edited for anyone interested in reading.

A job well done.
On a side note -- that's why I carry all of the time. Imagine all the footwork that could have been saved by simply having the victim tell the officer, "You see that guy right there, the one laying in a pool of blood and piss? He is the one who attempted to rob and kidnap me and my ol' lady at gun point."
"Stupid should hurt."

Yeah I agree. He doesn't have his CHP yet so he couldn't carry, and he was jogging, but he said he won't leave home without it as soon as his permit gets approved.
At the same time, I think in this situation it may have been best that he didn't start a face to face shootout. It's hard to say what the best course of action is, but I'd hate to be in that situation, start shooting, and end up killing a guy but him leaving holes in me and my fiance as well. He said it took all he had not to walk in the house and get his SKS to pick them off in the street
Would be some bad press for the Senator

As far as sending a "thank you" letter to the officers/department, what's the best way to go about that in order to get the best outcome? A phone call? A letter? Who should a letter be addressed to?
