I should have stayed home...
I went Christmas shopping today and I shoulda stayed home.
It seems I saw more flashing blue lights than Christmassy red and green and more sirens than tinkling silver bells. Intersections were blocked and backed up with traffic and practically every city PD officer was out in the drizzling rain trying to clear it up.
I felt sorry for these guys risking their lives against enraged drivers who wanted to turn left but made to go straight.
The stores were just as bad, no parking places and chaos inside and out.
Wow!! what a relief to be home.
Do you have to go through this torture, to shop in your home town?

I just got back from shopping. Luckily, all I was doing was picking up stocking stuffers for my wife's stocking. It was low-key and everybody was nice.
Then, I went to Sport's Authority for another last-minute gift. The store was busy and the check-out lines were long, but everybody seemed pleasant enough. I didn't get wound up until I went to Home Depot to buy some stuff I need for Tuesday so I can replumb and rewire my son's house for the washer and dryer we gave them for Christmas. I ended up leaving without anything on the list- I'll buy it Tuesday morning at the plumbing store instead.

Home Depot sucks....plus they let all of the illegal day laborers hang out in front of their stores and harasses their customers.
I did most of my shopping yesterday. I've found that they key is to go early and to avoid the mall. Even Costco wasn't too bad because I got in there before noon."To the German commander: 'Nuts!' The American Commander" - General Tony McAuliffe, 101st Airborne Division

This is why my shopping takes place at 3am.
There’s a promise I need you to make
While I’m gone you take care of the love
And I’ll deal with the hate.
Don’t worry about me; I’ll be all right
Just care for your children and sleep tight
I’ll keep you safe on my watch tonight
