    I Remember When

I remember when seniority got me the right to get some of my vacation time during Christmas. Took about ten years to get to that point. For you who are not there yet, I say a BIG THANK YOU for the sacrifice you are making, and may you stay safe while riding the streets.

For the rest of you who got the privilege to be off with families, enjoy them to the fullest.

    Merry Christmas to you all.

I remember when I had 10 years in my old department and HAD some seniority especially since they were hiring again.
Now Iam at the bottom of the list..

I remember my first patrol car, a 1993 Olds Delta 88....And then we had the 1995 Pontiac Bonnevilles with 5 spoke alloys and a great ARMREST...
A monday morning lunatic, disturbed from time to time. Temporary catatonic madman on occasion..

Lightning crashes a new mother cries, her placenta falls to the floor. The angel opens her eyes, the confusion sets in before the doctor can even close the door..
The views and comments of E-man are mine and mine alone and therefore might not reflect the views of others or people in my current department. As such since this is still America I can post what I want without fear of retribution. I think.

    RIP Eric

Our new guy was whining because he has a family (and a new baby) and has to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. He has been on less than a year. lol

Well, The way that our Dept. is set up as long as there are only 2 officers in your particular squad asking for time off they can get it. Now, if a third officer asks for time off then the Sgt. has to go by seniority as to who gets the 2nd spot. We have 3 rookies on our squad, so I have seniority even though I only have 3 years in the agency.

In my agency the full timers get every federal holiday off. Just to make some of you upset. I only have a year on at my current agency taking out the corporal I am third in seniority with a 15 man agency. Oh and to make you all feel even worse after today I am off Mon,Tue, Wed, Thur .

Merry Christmas all and to all a goodnight. Well that is after 4pm

I am off today, Monday, and Tuesday. My days off fell on Xams this year and I managed to add a holiday to it. I have worked Xmas in the past and it kind of sucks, but at least it is double pay.

OH i get paid for it just don't have to work the actual day. My normal days off are on Mon, Tues. But because I get paid for Monday my days off move to Tue, Wed. Then I had 8 hrs of comp time I was required to burn so I took Thur since my cousin is coming into town. Haven't seen her since two years ago.

I remember when officers NEVER called in sick on Christmas. They knew that someone else would have to do the job for them. Before I had kids, I worked a few "doubles" so guys with families could stay home.
For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Providence has a good way of going about it. They cut the shifts in 1/2 and you can choose which one you want to work. It works well even for those with kids. I think it is a nice thing to do.

I could care less about Thanksgiving. I would pick that to have Christmas off.

i dont have senoritiy here at the so, like i did when i was at the pd, but regardless i have and still give up my thanksgiving and xmas so people who really need it off can have off. i dont have kids or a husband so i dont mind working those holidays so others can enjoy it with their families. i still had my xmas today, although it was more like 5 mins before i walked out the door to work i opened my presents real quick from my mom said thanks and went off to work.

i still got new years off this year, so thats pretty cool.
