Holidays and child-custody :(
Well, I just got off the phone with a father who's ex- is refusing to bring the children back to him. Christmas Eve!!!!!!!! Raise your hand if you think these situations suck. In our county we are not allowed to intervene in those situations, unless there is a matter regarding the welfare of the children. If it's just a matter of the custody papers, sorry. So I had to tell dad to call his attorney on Tuesday.
It makes me greatful I did not grow up in a situation where there were problems like that. Thoughts and prayers for those who were not so lucky, or are dealing with such a situation now.
Merry Christmas to all!!

For the most part, it's the same here, not allowed to intervene, unless by court order. Or, if the mom has never been married to the father, then the mother is considered sole custodian, and we can return the kids to her custody.

If there are court orders in place with regards to custody, we do a door knock if the one seeking the custody is legally supposed to have that custody. Almost 100% the threat of being arrest for being in voilation or a court order is enough to get to hand over the kids.
But if it has to come to us having to intervene I also though in a warning that social services may be calling as well. And that play BS games is a form of child abuse.
I don't care if the adults fricken hate each other, but find some way to get along for the sake of the children. Be mature and set an example.
Sorry for the rant. I feel your pain.
